Studio Policies

Welcome to the studio! As you teacher my goal is to help aspiring violinists master the fundamentals so that they can express themselves creatively.

It is a privilege to have you all here. Below, you will find my studio polices which aim to ensure a positive and enriching learning experience for everyone.

Lesson Schedule and Attendance:

- Regular attendance is crucial for consistent progress. Many of you are scheduled in back to back segments of my teaching day so please be respectful of your other studio mates and arrive on time for your scheduled lessons.

- Cancelation Policy: If you need to cancel please notify me with a 24 hour notice. I am more than happy to accommodate a lesson reschedule, however, no shows or cancelation with less than 24 hours notice will *not be eligible for reschedule.

*Please contact me if you are sick or there is an emergency.

Practice and Preparation:

- Practice is the cornerstone of improvement. I encourage students to establish a daily practice routine that suits their level and goals.

- Come to your lesson prepared, having practiced any and all assigned materials and exercises.

Communication:

- Open communication is essential. Feel free to discus any concerns, questions, or goals you have. I am here to support your musical journey.

Studio Environment:

- Our studio is a safe and inclusive space where respect for each other and the music is paramount. I strive to create a nurturing environment that fosters creativity, growth and love for music.

Code of conduct:

- Violinmastery LLC reserves the right to immediately terminate services for harassment, threats, intimidation, or any conduct by a student or parent that is abusive, coercive, or intended to damage the reputation, safety, or operations of the studio or its community.

Termination under these circumstances results in forfeiture of all unused tuition, and no refunds will be issued.

Performance Opportunities:

- Throughout the year, we will have various performance opportunities such as recitals, masterclasses and clinics.

Materials and Repertoire:

- Students and parents are responsible for obtaining necessary music books and materials. I will provide guidance on appropriate selections for your level and goals.

Students will be provided with a Practice Journal to track weekly assignments, practice goals, and long-term progress. Students are required to bring their practice journal, music, instrument, and all other required lesson materials to every lesson.

Consistently bringing lesson materials is essential for maintaining continuity between lessons and accurately tracking each student's progress.

To allow for occasional mistakes, each student is permitted two (2) forgotten materials occurrences per semester.

Beginning with the third occurrence in the same semester, a $5 Fee will be added to the following month's tuition for each subsequent occurrence in which a student arrives without their practice journal, assigned music, or other required lesson materials.

Forgotten material occurrences reset at the beginning of each semester. Each student receives one practice journal at no additional cost. If a journal is lost or requires replacement, a $15 replacement fee will be assessed.

Personal Hygiene Policy:

-To maintain a professional and comfortable learning environment for everyone, please observe the following:

Arrive lesson ready. If you are coming directly from a sporting event or other outdoor activity, please change out of excessively dirty or mud covered clothing before your lesson whenever possible.

Fingernails must be kept short. Proper left hand technique on the violin and viola requires fingernails to be trimmed short enough to allow correct finger placement on the strings. If you choose to wear artificial or long nails for a special event, please remove them before your lesson.

Lessons cannot be taught with excessively long nails. If a student arrives with fingernails that prevent proper playing, one of the following will occur:

The lesson will end immediately and the lesson will be forfeited, or

The student may trim their nails before the lesson begins.

In either case, a $20 fee will be assessed.

Fees and Payments:

- Payment for lessons is due by the end of the first week of each month.

Studio Policy Agreement:

- By enrolling you agree to abide by the terms outlined in this policy. Your commitment and dedication contribute significantly to the success of your musical journey.
